I am starting truck driving school in a few days and I wanted to know how the industry is doing in this economy
While I’m not a truck driver, my family and my wife’s family are full of truck drivers. My brother in law tells me that things are getting rough for truckers. The company he works for laid of around 300 Truck Drivers this year. Those were mostly short run drivers like the day cab drivers you see.I doubt that new drivers will have any problems. Being new, you are mostly likely doing cross country. I doubt that cross country drivers are feeling it as much. Then again quite a few truck stops have a lot of drivers waiting for loads.

Over the road is slow now because most companies are also slow. Trucking and the economy go hand and hand. No problems finding jobs but not much freight to pick up now.in other words yeah they are hiring but you might be doing alot of sitting and waiting on loads, this means low$$
